Apparently it only works on the backwards compatable systems... so I'd have to get a used system that already works with ps2 games.

I know you can play PS2 backups on a PS3 with Backwards compatibility but you just gotta open it up and remove some protection thing by the laser or something.

I think it has games that better suit my taste. I'm not really all into the multi-stuff you can do with it.

What are some good 360 games to buy to add to the list?

lolol, you guys are full of information that makes the 360 look like crap...

I'm more of a sony fan as well so you know my opinion isnt biased.

for #1...wifi adaptor that costs $70 - $100 isnt needed. As long as you have an ethernet cable you can hook it up to a modem/computer/router. the wifi adaptor sucks anyway and i wouldnt recommend getting it.

#2 Online play, you get what you pay for is what it comes down to. Yes you have to pay for a subscription to xboxlive but everything is monitored online. People get suspended for trash talking, obscene language, cheating, etc. Ever hated playing against people who use hacks ruining the game for all who play it? This is your answer. Also you can buy subscriptions in 1 month incriments at a cost of about $7 - $10 if you're not interested in forking out $50 for a 13 month subscription.

#3 Movies/tv shows/console games (snes, xbox, nes, sega, etc.) and game add-ons/map packs can be directly downloaded straight from your xbox with either a credit card or microsoft points.

#4 Heres a list of xbox 360 exclusive games...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_exclusives

vs.

ps3 exclusives...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:P ... only_games

#5 You can sync your xbox to your computer via windows media player to stream movies, pictures, music, etc. You can sync your zune if you own one.

#6 Gamer points...it brings a new meaning to "unlockables". You'll find yourself playing your games more often exploring different areas, doing things you would have missed out on the first time or just plain wouldnt have thought of in order to achieve these gamer points.

#7 Backwards compatability. If you own any xbox games from the previous console they work if not, you can always download them straight from the xbox dashboard.

I'm sure theres a whole sh*t load more that i'm missing out on seeing as how i havent really played any of my consoles since my daughter has been born. BKFraiders could probably add to this as well. In all honesty though, I bought my xbox thinking it would just be like any other console updated graphics different gameplay (the typical expected) but i was very impressed with the console itself and how much it actually had to offer.

Playstation 1 and possibly 2 compatibility.
Playstation Store to buy movies ($14.99), just about ANY tv show. Any show that is currently on TV - Burn Notice/Prison Break/Family Guy and many old shows like scooby doo! And Batman and Robin. There is a crap load. ($1.99 an episode). Or rent movies. ($3.99)
And Playstation Store games and PS1 games.
Built in WiFi

360:
Run netflix through your account
Arcade

Not sure what exactly you mean by media center, but I'm guessing 360's are about the same, considering they connect over your lan to windows media center. 360's already have backwards compatibility, there is no possible about it. And there is a thing called xbox live marketplace, where you can download shows and movies just like ps3, as well as buy xbox 1 games. As for built in wifi, that's about the only pro I always hear in every single ps3/360 argument. The adapter isn't even necessary so theres no reason to always add that into the "hidden fees" for a 360 along with whatever "other stuff" is referring to. I wouldn't even want one anyways when I can just use a cord and get better speed with that. The less wireless I gotta worry about, the better.

I totally agree with staxx, I didn't read the topic until now and all i can see is the same old same old lame arguments. Im pretty unbiased, if I had some extra cash I would buy a ps3, for FF and bluray. I mean my computer is in my room right beside my TV, no reason for me to spend any money on a ps3 other than for final fantasy and bluray.

Maybe you should research some more brent before you read the arguments in this thread...

well MGS4 was like my favorite game ever... (not really) but it was awesome! And i never would have played it without getting my PS3. But lately i've used my ps3 a lot more, although i do think that 360 has a really impressive game library

Yea they both have a good bit of things you can do with. The PS3 can sync with a PC as well. There aren't any "hidden fees" they are just extras - 360.

Well, I appreciate everyone's quick response and advice. I've talked myself out of laying down that cash for now. There's a chance I could be going to Australia some time this year, so it's best to just save the money. Like I mentioned before, I don't really have THAT much time to play.

Thanks again.

I guess that's fine.
There's a lot of stuff coming out for the PSP so you'll still be able to play stuff.
Right now I'm really hyped about the Beta 2 of Daedalus.

You might find a better deal in the future for the consoles too! I'm waiting for a God of War bundle or something with Backwards Compatibility.

I don't understand why Sony dropped the emulated backwards compatibility. I mean, PS3's ship with large hard drives, so it's not like space is an issue.

There's still rumors flying around saying Sony's making an official PS2/PS1 emulator for the PS3 that should run the games off the disc or copy them to the HDD.

I emailed Sony about this and they said that they were working on something related to what I suggested. (Which was a way to play PS2 games by backing up your own games directly to the system). And that I would get no compensation lol.

Oh and they dropped the BC to drop the cost to manufacture the system so they could sell it at $400 and not lose as much.
