I NEED to convert .MOV

I have a canon G10

And all it can record is .mov

I need to put it into Windows Movie Maker

I HAVE NO WAY OF CONVERTING THE VIDEO, I need it for a school project

What's the best way of converting it?
Is there another movie maker other than Microsoft's?

P.S. I can't pay for any converting software

Their conversions are ALWAYS extremely low quality and they ruin the sound.
