CXMB and Waves

I have a psp-1001 running 5.00 m33-6. I have heard alot about cxmb and waves. To start with what are waves and were can I get some. Second, the whole custom xmb thing has me confused. Can I just download one I like and install it? If not what do I do??? If you can't tell I somewhat new to this, so thank you for taking your time to answer my questions.

I think you just gotta download themes that are compatible with your firmware. They are either .CTF or .PTF files. You stick them under

root/psp/themes

not 100% sure though, I think you might need to download a cxmb.prx plugin compatible to your firmware as well.
