Plasma vs. LCD?

In my quest for a new TV i have come across these:

http://www.brandsmartusa.com/ProductVie ... 2002408&f=

http://www.brandsmartusa.com/ProductVie ... id=2004143

Both around the same price. Ones LCD and ones Plasma. Never owned either and would like not know which one yall think is better. My price is $500>.

LCD-1080P, 3HDMI inputs, heard LCDs boot up in less time (??), 60Hz
Plasma- 720P, 2HDMI inputs, 2,000,000-1Contrast Ratio, 600Hz, Dual XD Engine.

Go for LCD. Plasmas still burn in even the burn proof ones. Some plasmas need to be recharged after 8 years depending on use.

LCD is the way to go- No burn in and a really nice picture. I have a $0ny XBR series and I love it. My buddy owns a plasma and evey night he has to erase the bun in with some built in feature that hurts my eyes.

60Hz is fine for NTSC broadcasts. Some sets go up to 120Hz I wouldn't worry about it unless you plan on having your LCD hooked up to a PC and you have the graphics cranked all the way up.

The old tube style sets in America would do 60Hz.

In Europe the sets receive PAL. That is 50Hz and they don't complain so you tell me if it really matters that much.

I heard that plasmas used to not last as long as LCDs, but the newer plasmas are suppose to be better, I hear the picture looks better for sports and stuff on plasmas. Though I have a 60hz LCD TV and the picture looks fine, and the PS3 picture looks as good as it can be.

Im thinking of walking in Best Buy...saying "I have $600. I want that TV (LG-1080P-120hz-70,000:1Ratio. Sale $650)..oh and did i mention its in CASH. Think you can make me a deal?".

They can actually give me a deal...or laugh at me while I go on to Brandsmart. Thats the worst they can do so I may try it...

Oh and the reason I think i want 120hz is for Sports. From what Iv been reading it seems if your a big sports watcher (which is like the only thing we watch in my house) then that may help in the bluriness.

Do what you think is best, I made the same decision but chose the 60hz because it was over $200 cheaper with the 60hz on sale. If you are willing to pay the extra cash for 120hz then go for it, but have you noticed much blurring when watching sports? Does it bother you much? 60hz still looks decent and the way cameras look over sports it doesn't really follow a select thing with a single camera, it changes angles so I don't think it affects it as much.

But if you go into Best Buy and try to make a deal, try to be as nice as possible and don't rub them the wrong way.

Oh yea, I wont be some jerk. Hopfully I get one of those cool sale reps. The flexible kind yah know?

I need to check but i think you can tone the 120Hz down if need be.

Yeah, hopefully but they do have to follow code so unless it is a senior guy then he might be able to bend the rules for you.
Also, if I was going to get a TV any bigger than 32" then I would have gone all out to make sure I got the best quality.
But this tv is just really for movies, gaming and basic cable, I must say DVDs and Blurays look fantastic on it.

Don't talk with the sales rep. Ask the rep initially about getting a better deal and if he doesn't budge at all, ask him to bring the floor manager over and discuss everything with HIM.

You might be better off just buying from newegg. I got my 32in LCD LAST YEAR from them for only $600 with free shipping. Remember, retail stores always have a limit cause they have to pay those faces money. Newegg was a much lower overhead and even tho there isn't anyone to talk to, they still provide great customer service and FAST shipping!
