But for all the crap you pay for, and the price of getting a mac, why cant you but OSX on any other system (easily)?

Windows will let you, Linux will let you. why wont mac? INCOMPATIBILITY?

for the price you pay, mac should damn well be an alienware. i actually built and compared the 2, and tried to match them evenly. desktop - desktop.

the alienware was cheaper by 13 K and did way more. i almost maxed out both things too. monitor included. windows 7 ultimate, 2 TB the works.

Haha! Funny that you should bring up incompatibility issues, Airplanes.
That's always been Apple's excuse for making people pay more money. You have the first iPhone? Too bad, you can't use the new features because incompatibility issues.... Can't put Leopard on PC's because of incompatibility issues.... You can't use the older iPods with iTunes because of incompatibility issues.....
Even though there's a way to do all of that stuff by going around their security.

but for all the idiots who have no clue in the slightest, they are getting cheated.

we are all smart enought to know the ways around stuff, like putting songs on a n ipod without Ituns and having it all work correctly.

i bet you anything, most mac users have no idea what they got themselves into, truthfully

I Disagree.

I'm not saying linux sucks. Nor Mac. Nor Windows (Honestly IDC).
Humans don't like change. That's why I think windows is going to win forever.

May my be words be tasty because I might be eating them.

Actually the only reason windows is famous is because its famous... as simple as that.. i.e. the only reason people use windows is because its more heard...

also, Windows fulfills the ordinary requirements of an average user and since it does that most people dont care about Linux. but when u need something better and beyond windows (which most ordinary people dont) u go for Linux..

The reason Mac remains expensive is because they won't sell their operating system or give it away for free. Instead, they only bundle their operating system with their computers, so people who want to pay more... for... well... I don't know why, but if you want to pay more, you can get a more EXCLUSIVE operating system but that doesn't mean that it's "better". For every major aspect of a Mac operating system there is almost always an equal or better equivalent in the Windows world... not to mention that some of the open source stuff that people make is SICK.

I've spent most time on Ubuntu 9.10 and while I THOROUGHLY enjoyed my experience, for the most part, incompatibility issues with certain programs/ software/ games aggravated me since I like to play the latest and greatest games at maximum settings. WINE is a program that brings some compatibility from Windows to Linux, but doesn't do it well enough, and the other option is to pay for a program that is only slightly better.

Windows will remain the best for now because it has such a wide commercial customer base. You can make the point that Windows is famous because "they are famous", but "they are famous" for one huge reason. Microsoft sells their operating system. Mac sells computers. And Linux is almost a non-issue when comparing the other two giants.

Wrong are give you a example of why its wrong with one of the reasons from ipod touch hacking,
if you do it for free and get too many followers eventualy you get so many people begging for certain things they cannot wait so they buy different stuff or update their ipod.
basicly even if linux was famous it would still not be used as its OPEN SOURCE you have to have a operating system in the first place to get it because half the people don't have it allready downloaded, its a good OS but it'll never win And because its open source it will never be £ for as people other people will just use the open source and update it themselves and release their own makes of it.
Linux relys on people donating. Windows relys on sales which arn't gonna just STOP with a click of my fingers now are they?
also older people hardly know how to setup a computer once you buy one, so to get them to use Linux is impossible.

you have to think these things over.

To be honest, I don't think Linux went into it for money.

I mean, I'd be stoked if I had an OS I made, I really wouldn't care about money.
And I don't think they do either.
