Well that's the problem with Halo. The competitive game play revolves around the Battle Rifle for the most part as well as the sniper rifle. Neither COD4, MW2, nor any Halo even have "bullet drop" included in them (bullets falling due to gravity).

The truth is that there hasn't been a solid shooter game that is polished enough yet. MW2 is close but the level design is lacking, many guns are OP, camping is the only thing rewarded the most often, and the game wasn't tested enough so there's all sorts of little problems here and there. One of the more polished "simulation" shooters would be the Ghost Recon series but the game play can be boring as all hell sometimes. I still think Halo 1 was balanced in almost every since of the word. The game play isn't centered on 1 or 2 weapons, the weapons were enjoyable, the vehicles weren't crazily overpowered, and there was just the right "feel" of "arcade shooter mixed with enjoyable sci-fi elements". Obviously, however, the multiplayer didn't much exist properly until the PC variant, however, which makes things messed up as it is.

The new Battlefield has that bullet drop.

I enjoy Halo because it comes down to skill.
All the guns ARE balanced IMO.

and BKF: I love the BR haha.

I have been a halo fan for years and dropped out. The maps are put together well and I like how guns are placed thru maps unlike MW2 where you kill to get a diff gun if you want one. Halo if your out of ammo drop ur gun get a new one and keep fighting. It takes skil to strafe around in circles to obliterate opponents. instead of the across map kills that Happen in CoD and MW2. Yes it happens in halo 2 but you are usually found so you cant camp long. I just think halo is great.

MAG was supposed to have bullet drop. it soooo small of a drop. i over compensate. its slight drop, or maybe im just crazy.

there was an OOOLLDDDD game for ps2 called "sniper elite" (sucks Bolls) but it had bullet drop and i like it. the game sucked in controls except for sniping.

If you mix Battlefield Bad Company 2's in-game physics as far as destroying objects/ buildings go (and improve on it) and Call of Duty MW2's gun mechanics + weapon system (like perks/ upgrading weapons etc.) as well as take input from some of Halo's level design and vehicular support (main point being balanced vehicles - not OP) then we'd be playing a fun shooter game ;) Sure we can all agree on that mostly.

Now, the jetpacks in Halo Reach seem like a BA feature but it recalled to memory a game for the playstation 2 that me and a pal played that started with the letter C which was also a shooter and featured jetpack combat... what was the title of that game? It's slipping my mind in all of my infinite wisdom.

Realistic games are just pathetic.

Good graphics is cool, but making realistic VIDEO GAMES is so pointless.

I disagree. Some video games benefit greatly from being realistic in either graphical terms or terms of physics or character development. I do, however, see where you're coming from in the sense that video games themselves should be a format of entertainment to escape from reality for a time... but I think, personally, that some great games have been made which capture "real" scenarios in the game design. One that just sprung to mind is Shenmue for Dreamcast. Epic title and down to Earth. You even hold a job in it yet the game is great. Heck, the main character even owns a Sega Saturn and collects "bubble capsule toys" from coin machines of Sega characters. Truly epic.

Some games fail in this regard... i.e. most of the live-action garbage on the Sega CD lulz.

Some games should remain realistic by design though, like simulator games such as ... oh idk, Flight Simulator, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Sims etc. All standalone games and realistic for the most part.

wrong, making realistic games that arent fun, are pointless. i think realistic games can be VERY fun, there are just so few that really are.

FORZA is realistic (Gran turismo just doesnt seem to get car wieght/speed physics when turning) and i have LOTS of fun with it.

Ah, forgot Gran Turismo when mentioning realism and GT games are some of my faves. I'll probably end up getting a PS3 just for the full version of GT5 in 22 years when it comes out. I agree that some cars don't get the right "mass" feeling like when turning through certain corners but for the most part they get it pretty good. Few people actually play on "Simulation" difficulty, like myself, which vastly 'improves' handling to make it more realistic.

its already out.

and i ONLY play on simulation. the only semi realistic is the rally racing. some cars i KNOW handle better then that and i KNOW accelerate faster then that.

Well I wouldn't have known it was out with all of the ten thousand delays it took them before they remembered they had people expecting the game. I dropped out of sync with their useless "updates" about the game's status.

Someone sell me a PS3.

I don't really care about USB ports or card readers. I have a super beast gaming computer for those concerns. Even a slim PS3 would be fine for me because I just want to play PS3 games - not have extra functionality. I want a PS3 over a 360 simply for free internet access because I'm already paying for internet monthly and don't like paying for the same thing twice if I can avoid it.

Graphics, features, homebrew and backwards compatibility mean just about nothing to me as far as the newer game systems are concerned. I game on my various Sega consoles, original Nintendo, PSP and PC pretty exclusively so all I'm looking for is something to play games I like such as Metal Gear Solid 4 and Gran Turismo 5.
