help wii

I have a wii 4.3U. homebrew is on. can run emulators and games for snes, nintendo, sega genesis. loaded wiiflow and it only stops and shows usb port as red and i assume not functional. i have done bootmi as ios. ran d2x and set to base 56 and 249. what am i missing and links please. i have done these years back and lost my way. lol. i am guessing i am missing a mod manager or wad pack and install to get usb functional. usb drive is a 250 gb formatted in wbfs program i believe a cios or ios files. i have installed games that work on a current working unit and still shows nothing on new install unit i am working on.
