i would if i had 2 psps so even if it bricks 1 id still have a working 1 but thats not gunna happen, ill look around for info tho.

you dont really need 2 psps someone is going to Update the downdater flash file and put it on megaupload or rapidshare

The experimental downgrader is now on qj. Here is the link: http://dl.qj.net/Experimental-2.50-2.60 ... /catid/114 . It should have all the files necessary to run it including the files taken from the dump on a 1.5. Although i have a 2.01, i don't want to upgrade it and test it until I'm completely sure it will work. By tomorrow there should be plenty of testimonials, although many will be fake, but I'm hoping there will be some reliable sources claiming it works. If anyone who decides to try it out be sure to read the readme like it is the text that entails your death! Until then all we can do is wait!

Its nice to have someone talking smart, I myself will try to root out all the valid testimonials (ones w/ videos, ect) and post them up here for you guys to read.

The direct quote from the readme is: "This one uses another more risked technique (and i repeat: untested) than the MPH downgrader. It uses some sony libraries found in the 1.50 updater to perform the most critical steps, the logical format of the flash, and the ipl writing. See technical details for more info about how it works."

If that really wasn't clear just download the file from qj (it's in RAR format) to read the full readme.
If you plan on using it I suggest using the download at qj because im not sure others have the files from the 1.5 dump in it. But I'll check. Oh and by the way thank you.

wow, looks like there are problems out there, if it works at all you need a TOTALLY clean dump of firmware I think.

Then again it's still in the experimental phase. Hopefully by the end of the month (dare i say week?) there will be someone who can get a "clean firmware dump" to the public, or another version of the downgrader with better code (if that is the problem). By the way where did you get your information/news on the subject? Or what homebrew/development site is the best to use to keep up to date or "in the know"? And should this even be considered a proof of concept, or is it highly unlikely anything will come from this?

Something will come from this, I have faith in alex, as for the latest exploit and good PSP news dont bother with updates, use PS2nfo.com and maxconsole.net

haha, even if we dont see a downgrade, im sure Fanjita will eventually release a 2.6 eloader with kernel access.

Could it be possible to fake the firmware to 1.0 with kernal access on 2.5/6, like when using pspset/set X, I'm just not sure what needs to happen in order for the firmware to be faked. Or is it possible someone could create a fake update (like a few i found that were only available for while on http://psp-homebrew.eu/home.php) that actually work?
