They can't.

they did to me one time...I think it was extremenoob
one of jjgamepro's spam bots.

I don't believe that they have the inerperate interface to hack the php inbox.

I think you could prgoram one to send PMs. Would'nt be that hard... I once made a spambot for AIM chatrooms for fun, I think I could figure one out. not that im going to, i dont wanna get banned.
