One of the major disagreements between Toshiba and Sony when they were trying to make an effort to make a single Hi def DVD platform was that Sony wanted to cram more space for data on the blue ray discs by putting the data closer to the disc's surface. Toshiba felt this was a bad idea as a light scratch on the surface could render this data unreadable. Sony, being Sony didn't care about how easily a product could be damaged and felt that the 10GB edge on a triple layer disc was worth the sacrifice.

cant you get both from computer chips like cartiges, or memory sticks. i mean i have a 2 gigabite mem stick 4 the psp and the thing is tiny, make it bigger, add some memory and you got something with speed and memory. ever notice that there was no loading time at all on any cartige system?

so if we went with cartridge type things we would get speed and space wouldnt we?
