PSP's USB connection to PC

hey guys, ok i connected my PSP to my PC and
being an old PC...it over heated after a while (AMD...)
and did an autoshut down when my PSP was connected
to the PC, so now when i try connecting my PSP to a
PC or laptop it doesnt detect the USB being connected.

ive tired retsarting the PC / laptop, took the battery out of
my PSP. anyone had this problem before? and resolved it?

DID anyone know.....that USB cables can break from a laptop shutting down?...well at least the sony ones can...i never knew that...i used a Mini Disk USB cable ( same as the PSP one ) and it worked..again haha... problem solved sorry for the double post
