Downgrading from 2.81+ without GTA:LCS

Is this possible? Or will it ever be possible?

right now the only exploit found is the one in 3.03 with gta im donno if anyone is working an another version of it not using the game but i dont think any one is going to make on for anything less than 3.03 because its a working downgrade and not hard to do.

Not possible, but its possible on 2.50 and 2.60.

and 2.71. they seriously should make sumting that allows the same hack gta provides

that cant be done, its the way GTA loads save data, unless they can duplicate that to another umd... still dont think its possible

That actually IS possible. In fact, there was a serious talk around the homebrew community back in the first days of using GTA's save game exploit and many devs were talking about just using WipEout Pure b/c more people owned that game at that time.

I think that if they tried to use a save game exploit with any game that it wouldn't work now though b/c Sony seems to have patched up their holes (but who knows... it's Sony).

they tried it with other games, GTA was the onlt one that worked, its something very very specific with the way GTA loads savedata. Trust me, i was here when all that happend, i was deperetly saerching for a GTA less way, but the tiff loader didnt come out untill after i downgraded from 2.6. Thats all they have been able to do, make a tiff loader instead of GTA. If there was another game that could do it, they would have made loaders already.

well perhaps I am only remembering information from the theories made before they had tried all alternative options. I was pretty sure that it would work with other games though, but if you looked vigorously then I trust you.

I'm just wondering how the newer firmware versions will be hacked... but then again, I am also wondering if ol Sony can conjure up anything WORTH hacking into...

i know its strange, but it is specificly only GTA LCS that loads savedata in this way. i even thought that other games would make it possible. MAny people tried to use other games, its just something in GTA, something magical, i dont know. And i think the reason that SOny cant make anything harder to hack is that they are limited with less than 25 megs of space

well they have 32mb of flash to work with. I think the best way to fight homebrew (if I were Sony) is to just fill up that flash... I mean, then we'd have to use older methods to hack into stuff that they've already patched... either that or find something entirely new... and both of those alternatives aren't good for us.

when i check out my flash0 i see only about 21 mwgs of space...btw thias is off topic but, dose the latest devhook work on 3.03 eo-c, i need to test a hack, but i need to devhook 2.82

So I'm pretty much screwed unless I can find an original copy of GTA:LCS? Stupid VCS asking me to update my FW.

I wish I knew about custom firmwares before I updated.
