Do you do any gaming on pc?
Vista is said to decrease speed in gaming do some searches with google.

Vista decreases gaming speed because of insufficient driver support. Im running it with 1gb ram, a broken 9600 that can only use factory installed xp drivers, and an athlon xp 3000 processor (2.16ghz). It boots and seems to run faster than xp, but i dont play games, no one should until there is proper driver support.

read the rules before you post.
I cant even believe you wasted my time with that nonsense.

I had only posted that I knew of people that did; the self-incrimination is all on des. But I know three people with versions that are cracked, so I don't know what to think about it. I think Vista will mature into a good OS, but I think they rushed it with eye candy how it is right now.

there are RULES here that we dont discuss crack or illegal stuff here, thats why we use our pm system.

we hack but not promote piracy. theres a huge difference.

btw. xp > vista. for now.

and as for vista being better for gaming... retarded? rly?

vista doesnt even support Open GL. Well actaully is "SORT OF" does. suppositly, Open GL on windows Vista is a dummied filed running off of Direct 3D. I wont stand for that crap.

regarding des, who is also a close personal friend of mine btw, I'd like to make the point that it shouldn't be against the rules to state that someone has or has seen or knows of someone that has a cracked/ pirated version of (any) software. I am, however, against the idea that we promote those illegal things or hand them out in public etc.

I don't think any wrongdoings have been made so far, let's just keep it clean.

I was wondering though, I know that windows XP has a WPA security thing on it to verify if you have a pirated copy of it or not... but I was wondering if there were other security measures that are included in Vista that make it harder for people to pirate or do you guys know?

Let's not argue. This is a good thread. I'm curious as to what Vista has to offer over XP.

He isn't a noob either, he just thinks that hacking means that all illegal aspects are included, which in many peoples' eyes, it is. It isn't abnormal for him to think that way, and it is rude of you, pspruler, to insult him. Keep it clean. As long as there is no details about what it is/ how he did it/ where to get files/ or someone is actively trying to distribute them, then I have no problem.

the truth about vista from my perspective.....

1.) its not needed
2.) its nothing more than eyecandy with annoying security features
3.) over priced
4.) people have driver and software support issues..why deal with them when you dont have to?
5.) the majority of peoples computers simply arent good enough to run it

but even in saying that...i enjoy eye candy....and overall vista isnt a bad OS at all...eventually everyone will have it....people said these same things when XP came out as well now look...no1 wants to leave it...ppl dont like chgange its just a fact

the people that have driver/software issues will eventually be fixed it just takes time and that has nothing to do with vista its the companies like nVidia and stuuf that need to update the drivers...

its not a dramatic change but if you have a good enough computer to run vista then you probably wont be complaining about it much...

the biggest problrm is that its a ram hog and thats most likly the biggest reason people have slow downs in game people think oh i got 512..or a gig truth is id recamend no less than 1 gig on vista and if you plan to do any gaming then atleast 1.5 gigs myself i have 2 and often go over 1 when im gaming but i have yet to have any slow downs

in the long run vista will better gaming allowing for the new breed of graphics DX10 and better utlization of dual core cpus becuz vista works with them much better than xp ever did and allows the processor opporate smarter.....

It shouldnt lag as much if you had better processors.

it isn't the processor though that is the downside to Vista. With all of that new "eye candy" you should be seeing your memory take a big hit. It can cripple a computer with two gigs of memory in some cases, and that's just sad.

I have a pentium 4 (1.86ghz) machine right now (sadly). The processor would be ok with Vista, but I have 256mb of slow ram... which was used for this computer when XP should at LEAST have 512mb or 1gb for safe measure. It's getting to the point that when you are multitasking with Vista, you aren't only using up your processor (single OR dual core) but you are instead burning up half of your memory while you are doing the most trivial multitasking (game/ browser/ downloading something).

Yeah but you know of something called lev-edit? I forget what else its called,
but many game programmers (like myself) use it to delete what ever is not in contact with the camera (or the view)
to de-lag the program/game you are running. My friend taught me how it works and most game companies use the
best processors to have atleast a 15% chance of lag in a game, which is VERY and almost not possible.
It all comes from the processor you are running, vista being one of the top notch.
