Need help upgrading, downgarding, sidwaysgrading?

HI. I've been trying to make sense of these tutorials and various posts, but I'm still really confused. I'm going to try to give you all the information I can think of, so you can help me as much as possible. I have a PSP, that does not feature the text on the motherboard (I'm pretty sure). I got it on release day, so it's whatever version came out first. I have Version 2.60 firmware. I have a 2gb memory stick, a usb charger/transfer cable. I do not have GTA LCS.

Ok, so basically I want more versatility with my PSP. Maybe, throw on some emulators, some homebrew apps, etc. I also plan on getting a GPS receiver sometime in the near future (imported I guess), so I want to be able to run the MapThis software, or whatever software is recommended for that.

SO...what should I do now? Any help is very much appreciated.

sidewaysgrading? lol... odd... I've never heard ;)

You're in luck. You can downgrade.

~~~~I am sorry though, something just came up. I have to leave for a few minutes. Ask asddasit, a psp helper in this forum, about this. He can help you.
Thanks for the quick responses! Ok so if I downgrade, I'm downgrading to 1.5 right? After that should I stay there, or upgrade to a homebrew (like 3.03 OE or something?)
Sorry, it took a long time to charge . So I'm sure there are is no writing on the mother board, does that mean it is NOT a ta-082? And if it isn't then I should google for that tutorial. I just want to double check, because a lot of comments on that site were of people who bricked their PSP with the tutorial.
You have a non-ta-082 motherboard. You've had it since they started selling and they didn't make the ta-082 til a good while after.
Ok, so I've followed the tutorial in that link. The downdater file wasn't there, so I found another one. I'm going to Photo's and it is just freezing (as expected I think). But i've reset it a couple dozen times, with no red screen, or any indication of it downgrading. Is there something that I am probably doing wrong. You can't really know exactly what I did, but are there common mistakes I should check for?
EDIT: NEVERMIND! I figured it out. For some reason the MS_Root stuff disappeared at some point. Got a red screen now!
EDIT2: Success! I'm at 1.5 now.
Ah ha,i dare someone to come up with a problem that we cant help with
I got a question that you probably dont know the anser to :P
If i have a 01-12.bmp and custom waves....if i were to put a wallpaper on that was only a portion of the screen size, would i still be able to see the background and waves on the portion of it that isnt covered by the wallpaper?
Thats not TOO hard of a question. There's a 50% chance of him knowing the right answer. :lol:
Anyways.
I was wondering if it is worth it to use the built in ps1 emulator that comes with 3.03oe-C. I skimmed the tutorial, and 20 steps seems like a lot. I already put on the ps1p_alpha1 emulator (before I knew I didn't really have to). Is it worth it to use the built in one, or is the one I downloaded easier?
OH and stax as long as the background is built into the 1-12 the wave will always win over it,meaning it will show on top. The color will change diffrent for diffrent background colors though.
That wasnt what i was asking...I already have a 01-12.bmp and have waves over top of it. I wanted to know if i used an image that is a portion of the screen ([wallpaper]the front image before the waves) while i had my 01-12.bmp and waves, Would the waves still show up since the image in front of the waves is only a portion of the screen?
Even if you made a portion of that image translucent?
*EDIT* I'm going to make this into a different thread since its not on topic.
