If you do not have version 1.5 or any custom firmware do not attempt this.

Flash Agent F5
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! It's possible to brick your PSP even if you attempted it correctly.

There is a readme file supplied with the homebrew. It'll supply the information you'll need on how to function it.

Again, I recommend you do not do this. I'm not saying that your chances are slim, but there has been cases where people have bricked their PSP doing this. But you could always access the recovery menu. It's your choice I'm just answering your question.

I don't know if you mean by getting rid of it for good
or changing it to a different one.

There are old programs that use to change them like PSPSet and XFlash.

Turn your psp all the way off. Next turn on and hold the R-trigger. Now goto Configuration, and enable "Skip SCE logo".

Correct me if I'm wrong, but gameboot.pmf is the file that reacts when you start up an application or game.

Again, to debrand it follow my quote.

To change the gameboot, go here
If you want to make your own gameboot, just look up a tutorial for which I'm too lazy right now xD

EDIT: People are mistaken from gameboot.pmf and icon1.pmf (thumbnail video when application is highlighted). Just a heads up.
