A coldboot is the screen that displays when you turn on your psp. The coldboot file is known as opening_plugin.rco.

It can be modified to display custom sounds, custom graphics, custom text.

If your looking on how to modify it, there are tutorials in the master guide which can be found in the tutorials forum.

okies i understand now but is there a easier way to do it cuz i already have a coldboot and im trying to look for a less complicating way instead of devhook and pspfiler.(i tried devhook and pspfiler and they both screwed my psp but luckily i had a back up file of my recovery data and that saved my psp's life and me 250 dollars)

You can use the flash0 toggle in recovery mode to flash the opening_plugin.rco to the x://vsh/resource folder. With that method it is pretty much drag and drop. For more information, you should visit tutorial number 19 in the master guide (link in my sig).
