My 4gb memory stop working

My PSP(3.40 OE-A) won't recognise it at all, but Windows can still read the stick, and I can copy data to it. It stop working after I formated it with Windows or possibly the new firmware( I just updated today) cant read it, dunno which. Former version 2.60 was able to read it just fine.

maybe try reformatting it again...theres a way to do it on windows but i dont know it off the top of my head. Also may i ask where you purchased your memory stick, cause fake memory sticks sometimes have problems. If you bought it from a reputable retail store then it should be legit and you should have a 90 days warranty on the memory stick i believe, so you can return it to the manufacturer or the retail store.

Does your psp recognize the memory stick? or does the light just continue to blink?

It seems like
it's only the memory
stick READER that's
busted. You might
need to get it
professionally fixed
if it continues.

ebay is the keyword here. Most memory cards that are being sold off of ebay are fake memory cards. They have read/write transfer speeds that are slower than normal and lower max transfer rates as well. I wouldn't doubt that the card came with postage tape from China. Many of the sellers try to "hide/ mask" where they are selling from. Many say that they are selling from Europe - but aren't.

Are you sure you didn't delete either of the "hidden" files on the root of the memory stick? That could cause some inoperability issues.

DPM he stated that it worked in his friends psp so its the memory reader on his psp. You will want to get another memory stick and insert it into your psp's slot and check if that works. If it does not then its your memory slot. You can try to fix yourself you just must be very careful and follow a good tutorial. Or you can get someone to do it for you. I can fix it but not for free :P

But ebay still seems like a likely culprit. The cards are choosy between different hardware and things. I don't know if I would go so far as to say that a fake memory card broke the memory card reader in your psp, but definitely test YOUR memory card reader out with YOUR FRIENDS memory card like kingcoke suggests. Until you know how your memory card reader is acting, you won't be able to diagnose the problem.

Get back to us though.

DPM I dont think its the fake memory sticks fault. 99% of the time when you purchase a memory stick from ebay its going to be fake. Ive purchased plenty of fake 4 GB and never have they gave me any problems. Ive had about eight 4 GB Memory sticks and they never messed up my memory slots.

I know, I said that I don't think it would be the cards fault for the memory stick slot goofing up, but it's kind of a weird call to make at this point since he hasn't tested other cards in his psp. That's definitely the first step to take. If it doesn't work, and you have soldering skills, you may be able to just resolder a wire to reestablish a connection that was broken or something.
