If I knew how I would....someone tell me how? lol Nah, I don't think it's a death threat. Maybe something like they will sue him or maybe they are offering him a lot of money to quit. I dunno know. I don't know of anything that they could say that is legal to say, and would scare the heeby jeebys out of him enough to quit.

Im talking about Sony doing something illegal.
Oo nvm, I really don't know. There's crap about getting sony's codes and crap that could be illegal. Like how you softmod a xbox, and run hacked microsoft code thats illegal.

Sony is doing more of an illegal act than Dark_Alex/ Noobz ever have.
Sony forces us to upgrade our firmware to the newest firmware in order to use the products they make available to us. None of us have entered into a contract in which states that we MUST update our firmware to ANY version, so because Sony forces these updates to use their software, especially when it isn't needed to RUN the software in the first place, they are violating our rights.
Furthermore, Dark_Alex/ Noobz have never attempted to profit off of their creations, and although they are technically Sony's copyrighted files, they are still the files that Sony gave EVERYONE access to at one point or another, and once again, since Sony never made us enter any type of contract, we are allowed to use any and all resources that they give us in order to enjoy our psp systems. The controversial "data.dxar" file is only a combination of what has already been provided to us from Sony, just in different form, but it HASN'T been "changed" from it's original, simply "fused". Because of that, Sony is actually the scam artists in this picture. They are simply looking for a scapegoat - and have been all along.

Sorry to say but Im going to have to disagree with you. You guys might hate me after this but yeah...

and looked a little closer into what this guy can do. But to be honest I think its Sony who should have the right to upgrade their firmwares.

its plain and simple. if dark alex quits then he's a coward for doing so. if sony left something in their code threatening him he should go public with it and then challenge them. of course i dunno spains legal system. to quit because he wants to move on is one thing however to quit because sony is pressuring him is quite another. (edit: my bad he is NOT a coward. he did what he had to do sony jumped on him. though... it makes me wonder why now?)
its a shame. not everyone is contacted by sony themselves because of homebrewing. he challenged a corporation with the noobz team and he was winning for awhile.
as well it doesnt help that the wikipedia section on dark alex was shut down. due "indications of SPAM" or "not a large enough notoriety" bullspit i think i read something on the net about there being a false site that almost got dark alex in serious trouble

well i wouldnt give up so quickly, i have this strange inkling the whole hand hasnt been played yet. its too soon to make any decisions cause truthfully we have no ****ing idea whats going on. and there are still homebrew developers out there. we've reached the end of an age in my opinion a legacy even. people will rise out of the shadows to take DAX's place. where that will go no one knows, but (laughs chaotic evily) IM LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!!!!!!!

I think the personalized message to DAX in the code is bogus. If other groups are able to produce downgraders and such, then they obviously are able to decode firmwares and this supposed message would surface. If Sony was going to go after someone there are so many other methods to get to someone then sending coded messages in firmware...
It really sucks if he is leaving the scene. He has brought so many PSP's from their Sony slumber. It also very well be possible that he's taking his work a little more underground. When things stay small time they tend to last longer than when you flaunt it for all to see. It is also possible that he has in fact left the scene. This has pretty much been just a hobby for the guy, and we all know how quickly DAX has put out new firmwares and updates... not to mention how stable his custom firmwares are on the first shot! That's a lot of coding and testing. Seems like a fairly time consuming hobby... and with it being only a hobby there comes times when you have to put your hobbies to the side.
I think it would be funny if DAX went to work for Sony. I mean, some of the best government hackers previously hacked government systems. Producers of new money and check securities were the ones that circumvented the original protections. Look at Napster... You know what they say, everyone has their price, and honestly if I was DAX I wouldn't have any problems sleeping at night for receiving a check from Sony for doing whatever. He's a coder, not a hitman, lol.
Like others have said, I'm sure someone/some group will step up to fill the void DAX leaves. Maybe DAX will fill it with a pseudo-pseudonym... Only time will tell~
