Help - Updating from 3.03 OE-A to 3.40

Theres an option in recovery to change between no-umd disabled/enabled....this will allow you to play without a umd by enabling it. But majority of games require it to be disabled and a game or game demo umd must be inserted in your tray while this function is disabled.

Sorry just assumed you knew that since you came from 3.03 oe-a.

Everything is working now with an UMD in the tray

When I bought the PSP it already got 3.03 OE-A on it and set to "no-umd enabled", didnt know about the no-umd disabled/enabled option.

Now I shall have an UMD inserted all the time,

i too am upgrading for the transformers game.. i hope its that good. damn if not.
by the way.. what's the kernel for...and how will i know if that's what i should be using? never really toyed with the settings.

I wouldnt worry about changing the kernel or any other settings unless your finding that some games arent running. Just make sure that once you upgrade to 3.40 oe-a that you have a game or game demo in your umd tray. Without the umd inserted in the tray, about 90% of the stuff wont work. But yeah, just give it a whirl...if you run into any problems, you know where to post
