To be honest I just hate the PSP API.

From a gamer's perspective, the differences between the two systems tends to lean. If you want games that are somewhat repetitive, quick fun and leave much to be desired, you probably like the Nintendo DS. The game library for the Nintendo DS is even more full of "child-like" games than the Gamecube was, and the Gamecube was shunned because of it EVEN THOUGH it was MORE powerful than a PS2. Don't get me wrong, I love my Gamecube, but there's only so many quality titles to choose from. This is the same way, but worse with the Nintendo DS. 90% of the games are "PG" type games. 9% are your "young teen" type games, and 1% is the more juicy titles for more mature gamers.

I'm a gamer, through and through. I'm no fanboy of any system or company. But when it comes to deciding on what is a better next generation portable video gaming device, and the options are the DS and PSP, the truth is very evident. The grass is green, the sky is blue, and the PSP is better than the DS.

I'm not a graphic-lover either. For me, it's nearly solely about gameplay... but that said, it's too hard for me to see a NEW game on the market come to a "next generation" gaming system and see that it's worse than games made for the PREVIOUS system(s) that were made.

Nintendo may not release a ton of games you want on their respective systems, but the games they DO release are often of the highest quality. Honestly, as few games as there are on the DS that I really want, there are fewer on the PSP. I'll take Metroid Prime Hunters and Castlevania Portrait Of Ruin over just about anything on the PSP. The only reason I even bought a PSP is because they're releasing the remake of Castlevania Rondo Of Blood on it, but otherwise, I probably wouldn't have even given it a thought. I've owned my PSP for about 3 months and have only bought 2 games for it, which I rarely play. Yes, the homebrew capability is amazing, and honestly, that's what really sells the system. I can watch movies or look at pictures on my computer, listen to songs on my iPod, or surf the internet on Firefox. As cool as it is to be able to do these things, the main use of the PSP is to PLAY GAMES. And right now, the 3rd party support for the PSP isn't all that good. I WANT to be able to say I own 10 games for it, but I honestly don't think there are 10 games for it that I'd really care to spend my money on.

The DS is FUN! You don't have to be a rocket scientist to use it. I've had so much fun with it in the 8 months I've owned it that I can totally say it was worth every penny I spent on it, even though I don't play it as much right now. But I played MPH for MONTHS!

I love my PSP, but all the coolest stuff I can do on it is stuff Sony is trying to prevent people from doing. Sucks to have to say that the coolest things about the PSP are things that have nothing to do with Sony.
