meh....10k posts is probably gonna take a year for me.
I disagree, to me, post count is important, but not because it shows authority or any nonsense like that, but because it shows how much I have done on the forum in terms of contributions. Yes, there are users who have a lot of spammy posts that take up a major portion of their post count, but that is their issue. I'd like to see how much activity has been done by say, for instance, like Mailas since I last came onto the Forum, and assume that since he's a pretty good user, that his posts will mostly be on-topic and worthy of counting.
It's not the count that matters, it's the content and quality of the post.

Post count does "mean" something, but diehard has a serious point. I agree with diehard more - the quality of the posts tends to build up character and show contribution MUCH faster than a 1,000+ post count. I mean, take me for example. When I first came here I wasn't even a normal member. I was a moderator here at 0 posts. I got criticism all around from just about everybody - and to some degree, it was deserved. Here I was, just some new guy, and I was a moderator. But after I began writing my tutorials and straightening things out + helping people a lot, people got off my back a little and gave me the respect I truly deserved.
I don't really think post count is all that important - but it DOES help to give the person character and influence over other members.

I could really care less about my post count (hah 4 away from 1k 
) but I really would trust someone more who has had like 100 posts and knows what there talking about compared to someone with 10k posts and has very little idea about what there talking about.
