At a loss of words....How do you use a controller with BF2?

Anyone have any idea what so ever on how to use say, an xbox controller to play battlefield 2 on the computer? I can play any other game, but I can't even find an option to use a controller in the bf2 controls settings. Anyone have an idea? Thanks.

Well once you have it plugged in it should show up.

It shows up in windows, lets me calibrate it and everything. Just when I go to options on the main menu in bf2, and click controls I see no where, where i can select gamepad vs. kb or anything. It's nothing but the different tabs, like Land, Air and all those. I have also tried both the regular and SF version to no avail.
