More than likely arto, you will too lol. And to be honest, it's not really that great of a story. The original story comes from a very "Old English" period and this is pretty much the old story. Beowulf comes to a town, goes to a rowdy mead bar (mead = beer hundreds of years ago... only worse), hears of the beast terrorizing the village, and goes to fight it. He rips its arms off, and that's pretty much the end. There's really no other characters at all, and no other events other than, "he comes, he goes to fight monster, he wins, people cheer". How can you make a full-feature movie out of that?
I'd expect the movie to be nothing like the real story though which is more of a reason to not watch it IMO. In fact, the one I've read is a direct translation of the original story (less than 8 pages I think). I haven't read an extended version of it because those versions aren't actually the "real" story as it was written. The "real" story is a crappy story written during a time when all stories were almost the exact same as it.
As for the movie? - I think I'll pass. I laughed when I saw the ad on tv. Trying to make money on an old story is a good idea, but following in 300's footsteps... not so great, and you'd think they'd pick a GOOD story... but w/e lol I'll stop slamming the movie.
