I am atheist more correctly an apathetic metaphysical variety, i willingly accept the possibility of a higher power but in the absence of the ability to definitely ascribe the existence of that higher power either way. i prefer to direct the quality of my actions according to a moral metaphysics rather than divine commandments.
I am also a deist which means if god does exist he in no way interferes with our lives.
also this is a list of famous people who were athiest
http://www.wonderfulatheistsofcfl.org/Quotes.htm, guess they all went to hell, including albert einstein, Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Charles Darwin, James Madison, John Adams, and Galileo probably the most famous in my view but there are hundreds of more. I guess they are all burning in hell because god loves them and wants them to know that if they dont worship him and follow his path he they will go to hell and have fun!
