well yah lol
its just i always do that to help my own cause.
But most the ones i put on here were not taken out of context because most i have checked but just saying :)

but Christians do the same, from the KKK, to the civil war where bible was used to prove slavery was good, to right now which it is used against gay and lesbians..

but i dont take those where taken out of context?

Slavery was taken out of context, but I don't think gays and lesbians are. Slavery was never praised in the Bible, one of the most popular Bible figures was sold into slavery.

That was a different Joseph :P
One was sold into slavery by his bros then eventually became the governor of Egypt or something.
Another was the Joseph that was with Mary.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)

Work hard, but not just to please your masters when they are watching. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. (Ephesians 6:6 NLT)

Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. (Ephesians 6:7 NLT)

However, you may purchase male or female slaves from among the foreigners who live among you. You may also purchase the children of such resident foreigners, including those who have been born in your land. You may treat them as your property, passing them on to your children as a permanent inheritance. You may treat your slaves like this, but the people of Israel, your relatives, must never be treated this way. (Leviticus 25:44-46 NLT)

so the bible doesnt support slavery? than whats this?

It says "servants" not slaves in the Bible. It just tells them to not be unruly, God is saying that you should be obedient and basically don't bite the hand that feeds you, in a sense to respect your employer.

farquezy wrote:Work hard, but not just to please your masters when they are watching. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. (Ephesians 6:6 NLT)

The true verse reads as follows: Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart.
This has nothing to do with slavery, all it states is work wholeheartedly and not just when people are looking.

farquezy wrote:Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. (Ephesians 6:7 NLT)

That has nothing to do with slavery.

Where the hell did you get this reference? Did you make it up or something, this is totally opposite of mine. Mine speaks for Israel not to treat each other with rigor, and it speaks of maids but it just tells them to respect them.

farquezy wrote:so the bible doesnt support slavery? than whats this?

Well there you have it, like 3 of those versus had nothing to do with slavery.
.. it is true that you take stuff out of context, like before when it spoke about the death to unbelievers. That was an OATH among men, not a pledge from God.

And I'm guessing those sites are where you copied this stuff from.

Because I think you are causing the thread to go in circles and as everyone knows if you drive in circles no matter how long you go around you end up NOWHERE.

I think you have made your point several times. No one wants to completely accept EVERYTHING you say. I say accept that. Now lets move on.

I want to learn from others and I am sure you do to.
