This thread will be revived soon despite a recent thread involing gay marriage being locked due to religious debate gone sour. I just want to make a few notes about how posting in this thread should go about from here on.
1. The Bible or any other "holy book" is not fact. It is a text that cites a faith-based religion, so please don't absent mindedly ignore a point made by anyone just because you are aligned with any religion in particular.
2. This thread's purpose is not to prove or disprove any religion wrong. Any assumption about anything being true or false should be decided on an individual basis by taking into account the posts that people are trying to convey.
3. No posting anything in regards to the previously locked gay marriage thread unless a staff member initiates it or allows it, so ask a moderator or administrator before you quote anything in the other thread unless you want the staff to vote for how long you should be banned. The bottom line is that the Bible does not mention that gay marriage should be illegal so denying another human that right is prejudice. I didn't want to word it that way because I value independent thought, but the last thread was such a poor example of independent thought that it found itself locked. Debating how gay marriage is described or should be interpreted from any religious passage in any holy book is acceptable, however, this time cite your information.
4. Do not dare tell anyone that their religious beliefs are wrong without providing a reason as to why you think that way. This is for serious religious debate so for those who cannot back up their points with any type of reference material other than their opinion, those posts may be deleted.
So gear up folks, the brew's most widely posted and internationally-viewed debate thread is returning soon.
